While all the talk has been about 3G as of late, we all know that the “next big thing” in the mobile phone world will be 4G LTE, which both AT&T and Verizon will launch in the next few years. And though 4G LTE will be capable of 100 mbps data transfer, we’re not stuck with the slowest of the slow until then.

You don’t have to stay with HSPA. In fact, you can use HSPA+. HSPA+ is called HSPA Evolved and you can achieve up to 20 Mbps data transfer, which is a marked improvement. And while AT&T is all set to roll out their HSPA+ sometime in 2009, Qualcomm just finished up their trials and are starting to ship their hardware as we speak.

If all goes well, your cell phone data connections should improve over the next several months.
