The iPhone 3G S launch was Friday and over the weekend hoards of buyers hopped online to activate their shiny new toys only to find that activation was often problematic. In fact, some 3G S buyers are still not able to activate their phones according to reports.

Some users who purchased their phone in an AT&T store have been told the device will be activated in 48 hours. That deadline has been pushed back another 48 hours for a total of four days before the shiny new gadget can be used.

Buyers are understandably upset at the activation woes. While the fault lies on AT&T’s shoulders, Apple is reportedly stepping up to try to smooth things over. Apple is offering those who couldn’t activate the device a $30 iTunes store credit. It’s not clear if all 3G S buyers will get the credit, or only those who purchased from the Apple Store.
