Our sister publication SlashGear has posted up a review of the new Windows Mobile 6.5 OS. The new OS has been anticipated by fans of the WinMo OS and is finally now on the market. The OS is best used with Exchange and once Exchange 10 hits the market, the OS will shine according to the review.

AT&T and HTC unveiled a couple new phones including the HTC Tilt 2 and the Pure. The Pure runs Windows Mobile 6.5 and has a touch screen in a compact form factor and the Tilt 2 has a tilting touch screen and a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

Among the new Verizon Wireless offerings that debuted this week was the HTC Imagio. The device has global roaming capability and supports the V CAST mobile TV offering for Verizon. The Iamgio is the first smartphone to support the TV service.

Cellular South is a smaller regional wireless carrier and has been vocal in its opposition to the practice of handset manufacturers giving the large wireless carriers exclusives with the most desired handsets. The company has been able to land its first Android device, the HTC Hero.

The HTC Hero has been issued a firmware update that is now available for users to download on the UK HTC download page. The update improves several functions of the device to make it faster and more stable.

Sprint is adding new handsets at a furious pace in an attempt to throw more handsets at the problem of dwindling subscriber numbers. Sprint has historically suffered from a lack of compelling handsets and more choice is always good for customers.

I have already mentioned this week that Microsoft is set to launch its Windows Phone push with Windows Mobile 6.5 and the support of many major handset makers and mobile carriers on October 6. One of the handsets from HTC launching alongside the push is the Touch2.

We have already heard about the HTC Touch Pro 2 smartphone. The device landed on the T-Mobile network back in mid-August. Sprint has announced today that the smartphone will be coming to its network on September 8.
