Over at SlashGear we've been video unboxing the latest Windows Mobile smartphone, HTC's deeply impressive Touch Diamond2. Announced at Mobile world Congress in Barcelona last February, the HTC Touch Diamond2 has a 3.2-inch WVGA touchscreen, WiFi b/g, 3G HSDPA, GPS and the latest version of HTC's own TouchFLO 3D interface.

Many MIA from the Mobile World Congress and some not even available in stores, a range of smartphones are infiltrating the market. Funny thing is, they are either as rare as hens teeth, more expensive than tuition or not available in the US.

This week started with PHONE Magazine team coverage from the arena of Mobile World Congress 2009. Sony Ericsson have announced the W995 Walkman phone, an 8.1-megapixel cameraphone with A-GPS, WiFi and Media Go.The W995 Walkman supports GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 and UTMS/HSPA 900/2100.

Scientists at UCLA have modified a cellphone to act as a portable blood tester that is capable of detecting HIV, malaria and other illnesses. Dr. Aydogan Ozcan hopes to bring this technology to countries that otherwise would not have the ability to test for disease. Qik has revealed their new beta client with support for 27 additional phones. When Qik makes an announcement they really pour it on thick. Perhaps the biggest news with this release is the support for the Palm OS and devices such as the 800w and Treo Pro.

Someone has managed to get their hands on the new HTC MAX by Yota and written up a quick review for us. Yota is a Russian WiMAX carrier with WiMAX service in Moskva. From what we are told, this handset is a “beefed up HTC Diamond†with a larger 3.8-inch screen.

Today Orange announced that they will be offering the HTC Touch HD exclusively on the Orange network in the UK starting in early November. The Touch HD though will be available to other carriers in 2009. This highly anticipated phone is such a desirable handset and will give Orange a nice boost.
