Only the other day I was reminiscing about Access’ NetFront browser for the PocketPC platform, and today comes news that the company is offering a free “concept” software download of their new version for Windows Mobile cellphones. Still there is the SmartFit page rendering, tabbed browsing and full HTML compatibility, but they’ve added visual bookmarks, flickable pen scrolling and tap-zooming.

MobileBurn’s Michael Oryl – who made the video above – found the software to be buggy but promising, and best enjoyed with plenty of RAM; he calls it “an application worth looking at”.
With Skyfire, Opera and now Access all releasing alternatives to Windows Mobile’s Pocket IE, it looks like the browser war is alive and kicking, albeit on a far smaller screen.
