I happen to like Acer; the company makes some great computers and has the top netbook on the market. I’m not sure about the company entering into the smartphone market through. Smartphones are different than computers and I wonder if the company will be able to compete with the Apple’s and Nokia’s of the world.

The expectation is that Acer will launch an Android smartphone between now and the end of the year, though nothing specific has been announced at this time. Judging by the fact that Dell failed to get any carrier support for its smartphones, I have to think Acer will hit the same issues.
The Washington Post reports that Acer will be setting up its own app store for its smartphones as well. I guess that makes sense, everyone and their dog is setting up theist own app store today. What that means is not only will Acer have to find support for its handsets; the company will also need to find developers to write apps for its app store. Good luck.

Sounds like Palm talking about Apple when they announced their phone. Did you forget what Apple is?
