AirStrip OB for medical pros hits Blackberry

Before I was a full time geek, I spent over a decade working in critical care in the hospital setting. One of the things that anyone who works in a critical care setting will tell you is that one particularly ill patient can prevent you from taking care of the other people you are charged with.

AirStrip Technologies has announced a new application for Blackberry smartphones called AirStrip OB. The AirStrip company is well known in patient monitoring for monitors that track heart rhythms and other data. The app works for the Blackberry Bold, tour, Curve, and 8800 line. Support for the Pearl and Storm is coming this fall.

The app has been cleared by the FDA and allows the caregiver to see patient waveform data including fetal heart rate and maternal contractions. In real-time directly from the monitor in the room from wherever there is a cellular connection. The app is also available for the iPhone and Windows Mobile devices.
