Motorola seem to be distancing themselves. They could be shooting out ten new smartphones in the latter half of this year, although not the Alexander.

The Motorola Alexander, an 8 Megapixel Windows Mobile Standard Smartphone with NVidia graphics has been cancelled. Speculation points to the slider model being paired with the Motorola Atilla or A3100. That device has in fact now been released, but only to tertiary markets and will not see wide distribution.
The Company stated that “the planned launch of the Alexander handset and also reduced the number of markets in which it will sell its A3100 smartphone.” It remains to be seen if Motorola can achieve better success with its Android strategy for 2009. Expectations may see them back in full force with the release of Windows Mobile 7 in 2010.
