From now, Nokia will only go with panel suppliers that can make AMOLEDs. And while this may seem as though they’re limiting their options, Nokia is confident that AMOLEDs with play a significant role in the mobile displays of the future.

The OLED is no stranger to Nokia. In fact, it is prominently featured in two of their higher-end products, the 8800 Art and the 7900 Prism, to be specific. And it seems the declaration has prompted two of the company’s current panel suppliers to pursue AMOLEDs. AU Optronics and TPO Display are now preparing to incorporate AMOLEDs into their future designs.

However, TPO Display has noted they will need to install more equipment in order to keep up with volume production. Until then, we can just marvel at these snazzy mobile displays and hope they go mainstream.
