I’m not sure what good an app for the iPhone is that lets you record voice memos considering that the OS 3.0 update added a voice recorder from Apple. Retronyms has announced an update for its Recorder app for the iPhone bringing it to version 10.

The new update allows the app to record calls that are made to your phone. I believe that recording calls without the knowledge of the caller is illegal without a warrant. Still, if you just want to record your chats with your sweetie the app may have a use.
The Recorder app is available now for $0.99. The call recording feature works through an external service connected to the phone network so it is limited to being used on calls originating and terminating in the US and requires a per minute charge.

I just wanted to point out that Recorder 10 lets you record *outgoing* calls, not incoming ones (and there is a usage charge). We have to do it through a service outside the iPhone, and the phone company charges us per minute!
if you want to record incoming calls for an i phone then buy recordiapro
Another note: Recorder informs the call recipient that the call is being recorded.
Recording calls is legal, but laws change on a state-by-state basis. Some states require all parties to know the call is being recorded. Some states, like Oklahoma, only require the person doing the recording to have knowledge.
In Canada, without going through the exceptions (which there are probably a few like any other law), we have what is called single party consent. This means that as long as one person in the party that is being recorded knows that the recording is going on, it is legal. Someone can call me and if the conversation is being recorded by either me or the other party, it is legal. If the person doing the recording happens to give the phone mid-conversation to someone else and that person is not aware that the conversation is being recorded (and the other person was not informed), it is illegal.
If neither of the parties know that the call is being recorded, it is illegal. This means that if my phone is set to record all incoming and/or outgoing calls and someone borrows my phone to call someone but doesn’t know about this “feature,” it is considered illegal.
It may be illegal in USA but that’s just a single country. There are other countries on the planet you know, although most Americans seem unaware of this fact.
