Rumors are circulating that Apple are planning an iPhone-themed event on February 26th, at which they’ll announce both the long-awaited SDK and a 3G version of the iPhone itself. The news would come only a month after Apple upgraded the original iPhone’s storage from 8GB to 16GB, but would fit in with AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson’s confirmation of a high-speed data version sometime in 2008 and his network’s increased roll-out of high-speed access.

The SDK, which will allow developers to code officially for the iPhone rather than third-party applications requiring hacking of the handset, was promised to be “in developers’ hands in February”.
Mira Mobile, who Apple contract to manage the TV recording of their keynotes and events, are partially responsible for the present rumor, as they have been advertising jobs for an unspecified large event in the last week of February.

I’m willing to bet the farm that there will be NO 3G iPhone announcement at this supposed media event. Apple is not foolish to release a 16GB iphone, then announce the 3G iPhone.

In response to Vincent- Well, they did cut the price 2 months after it was released.

I venture to guess that the 3G iPhone launch will coincide with AT&T’s plan for the 80+ city roll out of HSUPA…Apple will probably support HSUPA but still be compatible with HSDPA. At least that makes the most sense to me.
