The rumors finally proved true and yesterday Apple launched a new iPhone called the iPhone 3G S. the new phone is hailed as the fastest and most powerful iPhone yet. Apple says that the new device is up to 2x faster than the previous iPhone 3G.

Among the new and notable features of the device are an integrated video camera, 3-megapixel camera with autofocus that can be controlled by touching the area of the screen you want to focus on. Alas, a flash is still missing. One of the things that I hoped would be included on the new device is voice dialing, thankfully, that feature did make it.

The iPhone 3G S will run the new iPhone OS 3.0 bringing with it cut, copy, and paste as well as the long desired landscape keyboard. MMS messages will be supported along with an enhanced search feature. Tethering is part of the new device, but AT&T still won’t allow that feature. O2 in Europe is though for an additional monthly fee. The device will be offered at $199 for the 16GB and $299 for the 32GB device starting on June 19. The current iPhone 3G received a price cut to $99 for the 8GB version.
