Apple have announced the dates for the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2008, which will be held June 9th through to the 13th in San Francisco.  With the slogan “A landmark event.  In more ways than one”, Apple will be focusing on development for OS X Leopard and the new iPhone SDK, while the keynote will likely be held on Monday 9th.

Apple WWDC 2008

“The groundbreaking innovations of Mac OS X Leopard and iPhone OS offer two revolutionary development platforms for developers and IT professionals. Immerse yourself with information-rich sessions where Apple engineers go in-depth on the innovative technologies that power the features of these sophisticated platforms. Bring your code to the Labs and work one-to-one with Apple engineers, applying development methods and best-practices you gain from sessions to enhance your application” Apple

I still hold out a vague (and likely vain) hope that Steve Jobs will finally announce a 3G iPhone to take advantage of all this new direct-to-phone downloading, but I doubt we’ll be so lucky.

3g iPhone was a real need in the last year. This time it will face intense competition with other 3g cellphones.
