The ASUS M930, not to be mistaken for Toshiba Portege G910 device was caught in the wild by the staffers at TamsWMS. Based on his feedbacks, I can almost tell you that the device is sadly unimpressive. For starters, pricing at 500 to 600 EURO, you’d expect the M930 to be nothing but a bundle of love and joy to hold and caress. Unfortunately that was not the case.

ASUS M930

The M930’s design is awkwardly thick, bulky and antiquated. If that’s not depressing enough, the internal screen, the one that ought to have been no less than 3 to 3.5-inches wide only has 240×400 pixels. The editor stated that it’s even small than the outer display. Why on earth would you do such a thing? Whoever designed this smartphone should either be fired or maybe, just maybe get sent back to school.

I know this is splitting hair, but if the hinges go out, you’re pretty screwed. Which might happen since the M930 lacks “fixed point hinges to lock the device in place. Over long period of usage, the hinges may get to loose.

M930 specs and features:

  • Dual display
  • QWERTY keypad
  • 2.6-inch and 2.0 display
  • UMTS, HSDPA (3.6Mbps)
  • WCDMA 2100 MHz/EDGE/GPRS
  • TI 2431 450MHz processor
  • GSM 850/900/1800/1900
  • Windows Mobile 6 – not 6.1. (will it be upgradable?)
  • 256MB flash + 64MB DDR RAM
  • 2-megapxiel camera
  • WLAN 801.11 b/g, Bluetooth, USB 2.0

I’m positive ASUS will show off the M930 at Mobile World Congress. If you want, I can get hands on videos for your viewing pleasure. Just leave me a comment and let me know.
