With the often sluggish 3G network that AT&T offers, it’s very important to many users to be able to find a hotspot for Internet access while on the go. AT&T offers many devices that can access Wi-Fi hotspots in addition to 3G networks.

AT&T announced today that it has expanded the number of global Wi-Fi hotspots that it operates to 125,000. The addition of new hotspots means that the AT&T Wi-Fi network has grown 30% this year. Many of the hotspots added were in Europe and China with 25,000 new locations.

The hotspots in China are all active now and the new hotspots in Europe will be live in the next 45 days. AT&T announced recently that it has handled almost 15 million Wi-Fi connections on its U.S. network in Q2 2009 alone.
