Say smartphone and most consumers immediately think of complex and expensive devices that are more than many mobile users want to spend. Not all smartphones are expensive though and despite the cost, smartphones continue to be the best sellers in the mobile phone market.

AT&T and Nokia have announced a new budget smartphone called the Nokia Surge. The device runs Symbian S60 and is designed to allow the user to keep connected to friends and family via social networks.
The Surge has a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, HTML web browsing, Flash support, and the ability to watch YouTube movies. The handset also connects to Facebook and other social networks and features a 2-megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom. The Surge will sell for $79.99 after a rebate with a 2-year agreement.
