I can normally find something positive to say about most cellphones, no matter how bland, so here we go for the Nokia 6085: the keypad looks relatively well spaced for plump-fingered users. Still, if you’re looking for a straightforward handset (preferably pink), don’t intend to spend all that much, and fancy joining AT&T’s network, the 6085 might be the handset for you. Available from free, thanks to some introductory online discounting, it’s a quadband GSM handset with VGA camera, EDGE data connection and A2DP stereo Bluetooth.
The outside screen is a tiny little monochrome affair, while the one found inside is not much better: CSTN running at 128 x 160, 262k colours. At least the dimensions are reasonable: 3.6 x 1.81 x 0.91 inches and just 3.69oz, the battery will last for up to 10 days in standby or 5hrs talktime.
Still, internet access is still possible, as is access to AT&T’s music store, and there’s an IM client compatible with AIM, MSN and Yahoo! messengers.
It’s available now with a 2-year contract.
