In a deal with mobile music company mSpot, AT&T have opened a catalogue of over 250,000 audio files to their uses for the express purpose of being hacked into 30 second ringtones. Called Make-UR-Tones, the app lets users search for and edit music from EMI Music, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, INgrooves and IRIS, listening to the full track before downloading their ringtone version. If you’re more interested in listening to music stored on your PC back home, mSpot Remix connects to the computer via AT&T’s network and begins streaming the song immediately, while saving the full track to your handset’s memory card for repeated playback.

Both services are priced on a monthly subscription basis, with mSpot Make-UR-Tones available for the Samsung SYNC, A737 and A747 together with the Motorola V3xx priced at $6.99 for three ringtones. Additional ringtones are priced at $2.99 each. mSpot Remix, meanwhile, is compatible with the Samsung SYNC, the Samsung A737 and the LG SHINE, and costs $9.99 for the transfer of 75 tracks. An additional 10 tracks costs $2.99.
AT&T also announced the extension of their deal with Napster, offering music downloads on handsets other than the Samsung SLM initially supported when the service launched last November. Beginning the rollout in the Summer, the carrier is yet to announce which new devices will be supported.
