AT&T SIM-only deal launched

AT&T SIM-only dealIf you’ve been tempted by AT&T’s commercials (what, really?) but have neither the cash nor the inclination to pick up a new cellphone, then you’ll be pleased to hear that the network formerly known as Cingular is now offering a SIM-only deal for users content with their existing handset.

So if you’ve been desperate to use that swanky unlocked clamshell you picked up while on holiday/from a friend/off the back of a truck, now’s your chance. The card is 3G compatible and has 64K of onboard memory.

As we’re talking a US carrier here, there’s of course an online discount (despite the fact that we’re talking about a mere SIM): the card will cost $10 in-store and $5 if bought online, together with a 2yr contract and free shipping. You should be able to bring your old number from another carrier by ringing AT&T’s customer services.
