Belkin has announced another new iPhone accessory that allows you to listen to music on your iPod in your car. The FM transmitter is called the Belkin TuneCast Auto Live. Belkin claims that the device is the first GPS-assisted FM transmitter with an iPhone application available.

The application is designed to work with the coming iPhone 3.0 OS allowing the iPhone to control hardware devices. Using the iTunes App the iPhone can tune the FM frequency of the transmitter and allows the user to set favorites.
The app also uses the location aware nature of the iPhone by taking GPS information and using it to find the clearest FM channel in the area. In addition to GPS information, the app also uses frequency information from other users of the app in the same area. The transmitter hardware will sell for $79.99 and launch this fall with the application being a free download on iTunes.
