Beyond Voice: Data applications explored in Mobilize Video

Voice and SMS has long been the mobile cash-cow, but usage models – and network capacities – change perhaps pushing data to the fore. In this Mobilize panel discussion, several industry professionals discuss the future of mobile web data products, exploring a market that bypasses voice for alternative monetization strategies.

In the video, products such as the Amazon Kindle, Sony PSP and Dash GPS are all discussed and their non-voice network usage examined. Unexpectedly high mobile internet access – from devices such as the PSP and the iPod Touch – are explored, together with the importance of good GUI and interface design.
