Research In Motion’s PR firm has finally announced a name for its forthcoming application store for BlackBerry smartphones: BlackBerry App World. The app land (coming shortly), offers consumers to “enter a world of possibilities”.

Offering users the chance to “personalize your BlackBerry smartphone with games, social networks, personal productivity applications and so much more.” Registration is open to hear when the World is available. Reports suggest the World will reopen at 10PM Eastern time tonight.

For use of the World, phone system requirements include operating system 4.2 or higher as well as having trackballs or a SurePress touch screen. Developers are welcomed to showcase your “talent and submit applications. Imagine millions of people using your application on their BlackBerry smartphone!” Just in case you are busy, I’ve signed up for updates through the World as an avid BlackBerry user and will report on anything I can get my hands on.
