Things are hotting up in the smartphone world with the latest update to RIM’s Blackberry range trickling from rumor to solid fact.  The Boy Genius turned up a presentation slide detailing a new, sleek handset called the 8xxx, sporting quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and triband 3.6Mbps HSDPA, as well as GPS, WiFi and that full QWERTY keyboard Blackberry addicts love to praise.  Now, a tipster over at BerryShack has “strongly” suggested that the model in question is to be the 8920.

Blackberry 8920

Whatever the name, it’s a high-end handset that will keep executives and gadget freaks alike salivating until its May 2008 launch on Vodafone.  We’ll be particularly interesting in seeing the “half VGA” display, coming in at 480 x 320, although the 2-megapixel camera seems a little underpowered.

Rest assured, any details of the handset at CES 2008 and we’ll be bringing them straight to you!

Thanks Chris!
