While we’re still waiting for BlueAnt’s award-winning V1 Voice Controlled headset to hit shelves - which we’re hoping will be imminent - we came across a video from the company that demonstrates exactly why the Bluetooth earpiece promises to sweep the hands-free board. Fitted with dual-microphones for noise reduction, the really clever part is BlueAnt’s voice recognition system, that lets you operate the V1 simply by telling it what to do.

So, for instance, checking battery level isn’t done by counting the blinks of an LED, but by asking “battery status?” - at which point the V1 tells you how much charge you have left. Similarly there’s intelligent voice-dialling, too; say “Call home” and the V1 does just that. It remains to be seen exactly how good the V1’s accuracy is, but even on the busy CES 2008 show-floor it managed to deal with all the background noise.
BlueAnt have faced some strong competition over the past few months from Aliph’s Jawbone 2, so we’ll be interested to see how the new headset fares. As soon as we know more about the BlueAnt V1 we’ll let you know; until then, check out the official demo video below.
