While it looks like some sort of chest-expander, in actual fact this handled hunk of cellular goodness is ZyXEL’s modem for Sprint’s upcoming WiMAX Xohm network. Presented at CES 2008, the MAX-206m2 is a 4G router/modem intended for commercial applications.

Comprising not only the modem technology to get onto the high-speed Xohm network, but a residential gateway and broadband sharing. It’s expected to reach the market in Q2 2008.

Xohm is the brand name under which Sprint is launching its next-gen WiMAX network in the US. It rolls out in Chicago, Baltimore and Washington D.C. in Sprint 2008, with predicted download speeds of between 2 and 4Mbps and upload of 1 to 3Mbps.
