China Unicom buys 5M iPhones

Of all the countries in the world that Apple sells its iPhone in, the one that has the most potential customers is China. The country is one of the most population dense in the world and has only recently signed a deal to bring the iPhone to China.

AppleInsider reports that China Unicom has already purchased 5 million iPhones from Apple at a cost of 10 billion Yuan. That amount equates to about $293 per iPhone. The iPhones shipping to China lack Wi-Fi.

It’s hard to grasp exactly how large that order is until you look at the numbers from last quarter and see that Apple sold 5.2 million iPhones globally. The Chinese market has doubled Apple’s iPhone sales.
