Finally, the Centro arrives on Verizon Network!  Verizon is no doubt beefing up the product line for the summer.  Just yesterday we saw the LG Decoy, Dare and Chocolate 3 get announced and should be available later this month.  The Verizon Centro will go on sale June 13 with the same $99 price tag after a $70 mail-in rebate with a two-year customer agreement.

Palm Centro features include Palm’s old OS; VersaMail 4.0 with built-in Microsoft Active Sync support; support for Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes and IBM Lotus Domino; feature-rich Web browsing; Google Maps support; and a full Qwerty keyboard.

My personal feelings for the Centro aside, Palm have decent success with the Centro managing to sell over a million units through Sprint and AT&T.  If you intend to purchase a Centro from any of the three carriers, make sure to click over to Centro Accessories and see if there are accessories there you might want to pick up.

What’s not to like? Small, low cost, good value first time smartphone!

It’s not “what’s not to like” but the lack of innovation. Think for a moment that by paying another $100 you get something like…say the iPhone 3G which is infinitely better in every respect. The only drawback is you’ll need to ditch/break your contract with your current carrier to switch to AT&T. But hey, AT&T took the risk with Apple and in my point of view, they deserve the exclusivity.

Vincent, your comparison to the iPhone doesn’t really hold water. The iPhone can’t select and copy text, and some customers may prefer a keyboard with real buttons.
