The Palm Pre has been the most popular device on the Sprint network and has spurred many Sprint users to upgrade. However, the device has failed to draw significant numbers of new subscribers to the Sprint network.

One of the keys to the popularity of smartphones today are the apps and software available for the devices. One self proclaimed “dedicated iPhone developer” has said that the WebOS SDK doesn’t provide the kind of environment needed for serious games or the type of sophisticated apps users expect today.

The developer says that Palm limits devs to 4Hz of raw data from the accelerometer, very short of the 20hz needed for games to utilize the tilt control method. Palm is also looking to hire a new engineer for Game Frameworks to design, debug, and optimize frameworks for game development.
