Seems Samsung will be announcing a 12 megapixel camera phone at this year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The latest rumours suggest that Samsung plan to follow up their 8-megapixel INNOV8 with the world’s first shipping 12-megapixel handset.

samsung-mobile-logoDo we really need  very high megapixel camera phone? I don’t think so. If we are taking photos just for documentary or Web use purpose, 3.2 MP or 5MP camera phone is good enough. Even, very good, I think. But if I need high quality photos, I preferred using a professional camera instead.

For me, camera phone is just for fun. Fun photography. Photography on the go.

samsung does it as a ploy.even their point and shoot cameras generally are high megapixel at inexpensive price points. with a tiny image sensor a large resolution camera will only create digital noise in the photo actually making it a lower quality photo. but hey, 12 megapixels …. thats bada$$!
