4,700 gallons of gas could also be known as £10,000, but lately I’ve been thinking in tanks, not dollars. For those fortunate souls free from the tyranny of the pump, Nokia has come up with a way to spend your time and money: coveting their brand new nugget of conspicuous consumption. Behold:

Continental Mobiles in the UK is offering the phone plated in sterling silver and inlaid with 4.42 carats of brilliant white diamonds, naturally mined, of course. Put your order in early, because it takes three weeks to garnish the phone that will take the Artful Dodger three seconds to nick. No word on whether all of those stones affect the phone’s performance, but I suspect it doesn’t matter anyway. You’ll do more waving it around than calling.

And good luck explaining this all to your insurance agent when you accidentally drop it in the sink.
