eBay auction of BlackBerry 9000 ends abruptly

Worth Reading?

YesNo

There was an auction spotted earlier today, in which a party was selling an unlocked BlackBerry 9000 handset. The handset was selling for 400GBP, about $800 bucks, so to get in on the action you had to bring some coin to the table. The device was said to be unlocked, and would be ready to ship to the winner of the auction right away.

To me, this sounds like a scam. Maybe I am judging too quickly though. The listing did have some photographs of the device, which had not been seen before. While the pictures might not originate from them, either way, they are new. So there may have been one, but even so it would be very unlikely that there would have been more. There are a few floating around, and it is possible that one of them somehow escaped the RIM labs.

The listing has been pulled though. The reason was not given, just all of the sudden the listing just says item ended. You can check out the listing, what is left of it, here. This device is not due for a few more months, so if someone did end up getting the device out of this, we can only hope they speak up and offer a preview.
