While the iPhone’s interface may be pretty lovely straight out of the box, there are thousands of Windows Mobile developers who would be happy to help you tweak your Microsoft-powered smartphone into something less staid and business-like. One such team is CNetX, who have borrowed some of Apple’s CoverFlow magic for their Face Contact plugin for the WM Today screen. “Kinetic” scrolling together with index tracking (that shows the initial you’re up to) promises to make flipping through contacts far easier than in the standard Microsoft app.

It’s not just a shortcut dialler, though; Face Contact will let you directly add, modify or delete records, trigger multiple actions (such as SMS messages, emails, calls or URLs) and change sorting criteria on-the-fly. There are comprehensive appearance settings, too, with options to change transparency, how many lines the app takes up on the Today screen, and multiple photo shapes to choose from.
Keyboard integration means Face Contact is usable either with touchscreen or non-touchscreen handsets. There’s a trial version available, and the full software is priced at $14.95.
