FTC approves LG LTE/EV-DO gear

YesNo

While mobile users in big cities are looking forward to getting faster mobile broadband speeds that 3G service can offer, those of us outside of a large city are still waiting to get a decent 3G connection. Despite the massive holes in many 3G networks, the rollout of LTE is coming.

Verizon has promised to start limited introductions of its LTE network late this year and early in 2010. With half of 2009 gone already, it’s time we start seeing some LTE equipment cross the FCC. An approval notice hit the FCC recently that gave the green light to a new item from LG.

The device is called the LG M13 and it’s not entirely clear exactly what the device is. From the crude line drawing, my money is on an internal card for notebooks or netbooks that supports both 3G EV-DO networks and future LTE networks.
