Golfers on Verizon can now get GPSGolfShot

I have never played a real round of golf and honestly, the idea doesn’t really appeal to me. I have played my share of mini golf though, and my 8-year-old son usually beats me. He hits at least two hole in ones each time we play.

If you are a golfer that prefers real greens to loops and poles blocking the hole, Verizon Wireless has announced that GPSGolfShot is now available exclusively for Verizon mobile phones. The software lets users navigate new and familiar courses and provides real-time yardage readings on 10,000 professionally mapped courses.

Course and layouts are updated continuously and using the application can eliminate the need to use a range finder. Verizon phones supporting the application include the LG enV3, LG Versa, Samsung SCH-u410, SCH-a870 and SCH-a930. The application costs $1.99 per round or unlimited monthly use is $3.99 and an annual subscription is $34.99.

If you’ve never played a real round of golf, you shouldn’t be writing articles on golf equipment. It’s simple, c’mon now.

Yeah, I have no idea why you are writing this article. I’m going to try it this weekend and will fire off a short review.
I’ll have a rangefinder in my bag too for comparison.

I have attempted to use this app and it blows. Terribly inaccurate, does not keep pace as you move along and the yardages change constantly, even when sitting still. Save your money, the blackberry apps for range finders are much better, too bad I am stuck in a 2 year contract.
