When Velocity Mobile launched themselves into the Windows Mobile market at CTIA back in April, there was much speculation as to whether or not their 103 and 111 handsets would ever see the light of day. But the 103 did make an appearance this week, and after some hands on time, this phone is definitely something.

The 103 runs off of Windows Mobile 6.1 Pro, but it also has a unique GUI overlay called Odyssey with gesture capabilities. The Velocity Over The Air feature or VOTA is another interesting inclusion in that it puts together update packages for your handset (including carrier upgrades) and offers them as one wireless upgrade. Pretty cool stuff, there.
Expected to be released in the UK in September, the Velocity Mobile 103 has a VGA touchscreen, 3G access and more. It’s a quadband GSM device with triband UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA. Plus, it has 256MB ROM and 128MB RAM. Pair that with a microSD slot, Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, WiFi and GPS and you have a seriously loaded device. And did I mention there are dual cameras? There’s a 2 megapixel cam on the back for photos and a VGA cam on the front for video calls.
The QWERTY-sporting 111 phone will also launch in September. Be sure to check out the Velocity Mobile 103 unboxing video below.
