Ok folks, it just occurred to me that Helio may indeed be the first MVNO to feature WiMax in future devices such as the Ocean 2. Yes, there will be an Ocean 2 “because I say so”. It just became clear to me that if Sprint doesn’t axe their WiMax initiatives, all that Helio has to do is build WiMax into their future devices and hot damn, “let there be WiMax!”

Our Chris Davies mentioned that Sprint already quietly launched their high-speed WiMax network, Xohm, in Chicago, Baltimore and Washington D.C. I hope everything is going well for Sprint because they’ve got a lot riding on this project. Why Helio? Well, the MVNO has already carved a niche for itself as a high-bandwidth, data-heavy provider for users who love accessing the internet on their cellphones, and as a key CDMA player they’d be an obvious partner for Sprint’s non-HSDPA 4G network.
I hope to hear some big announcements made by Helio and/or Sprint at CTIA Wireless 2008.

Sprint has certainly surprised all of us with their new wimax service. If I not mistaken a few months ago there was talk to get out from the wimax business since the company wasn’t doing so well lately.

April 25th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
from what i heard from the helio recruiter it won’t be out til the summer. they don’t know what it looks like but they do know the ocean is gonna be in black and white…

I hope that’s it that would be sexy, just a little more buttons for easy navigation, and a UI that is not faulty, I would really enjoy that last one.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:24 am
It’s may come out as early as next month according to my friend.
May 10th, 2008 at 2:39 am
I’m waiting for it come out. My sister has the ocean and with all the features on it, it has the best plan. The only thing I don’t like about the ocean is that it’s too bulky and has too many buttons. I like the white prototype, but I hear that is only a myth and the real ocean 2 looks nothing like it.

It better have a touchscreen if it wants to be called an iphone killer like Helio falsely advertises the Ocean now.

is the ocean two ganna be touch screen or what
June 14th, 2008 at 2:21 pm
It doesn’t have to have a touch screen to be an iPhone killer. Some people think it does, but some people (including me) don’t want a touchscreen phone. It would make enough sense if it did have a touch screen, but I hope that it doesn’t. That would not be Helio, frankly. If they want you to use your phone, they won’t put a touchscreen in it, at least not as the main form of input. I highly doubt that it will be entirely touchscreen.
Helio doesn’t falsely advertise about the Ocean being an iPhone killer. It has a much longer list of features than the iPhone, and even the iPhone 3G. The Ocean 2 really should be considered an iPhone killer, (even without a touchscreen) because that may yet be what it does.

i hope the ocean 2 has features like a recorder that u can make ur own ringtone and make ur own text alerts! and maybe a little slimmer ….and as far as aiming instant message show all the regular icons i..e. friends icons pictures. basically all the things u would see on aim on the computer. mos def would kik sidekiks ass.

i am totally unsatisfied with the ocean. Sure it can message awesome but the screen is too small to browse the web even though i pay for unlimited data, its a total mess. who really cares about you tube, i am too busy waste my time watching other peoples videos.
I need fast email, text and a killer browser. games are fun when i am in the dentist office waiting for my appointment but that is far from being a major selling point for me.
I HATE how i can not listen to music while texting, gaming, browsing, using the calender or anyother part of the phone. The random feature of the player always runs the same. Another bummer about the music player is that all the alerts cut into the play of the music. sometime i am away from reception and the player constantly stutters because it has to alert me all the time that it can not get my mail. I hate everything about the music player.. you have to hit 5 keys everytime you want to start the thing. You cant even make a phone call without exiting the player, which means that you have to restart the thing again.

And no, ocean 2 will NOT have a touch screen cause they don’t play by mac rules, cause they are above mac, their stupid non mms phone, and their $140 plan.

Agreed. This phone could go on a diet, needs touch screen, a ton of multi tasking. The most irratating thing about the phone, and a bigger screen. I feel like I’m holding a sony mylo

THATS THE WEBSITE OF A PIC OF OCEAN 2.
I THINK IM GOING TO IPHONE 3G.
I HAVE OCEAN ONE AND ITS BORING.
July 14th, 2008 at 2:21 am
I love gadgets. Right now, the AT&T commercials are killing me. The new iphone has incorporated 3G…what a turn-on. It seems that every major mobile provider carries touch screen phones, which in all actually makes perfect sense. What’s up with Helio? Now that companies have almost mastered the touch screen technology, they are going to divert even more attention to internal features. Once they get to video conferencing, I’m outta here. It’s already running in Japan, which means it’s in the nearby future.
