Since Virgin Mobile bought out Helio, many have been wondering the fate of that carrier’s phones. However, the Ocean 2 smartphone still appears to be on the way and 2009 is when we’ll get to see it.

And even though the Virgin Mobile execs at CTIA Wireless couldn’t divulge the details on the device, there are plenty of rumors floating around to keep us satisfied. For instance, this will be a dual-slider just like the first Ocean. But a touch navigation pad and 3 megapixel camera with 30fps video is expected as well.

Anything that was on the Helio drawing board appears to still be in play here. All in all the buy out appears to be beneficial, with Virgin Mobile customers getting 3G access, more apps and services and Helio customers getting SK Telecom back up.
