HTC applies for patent on capacitive stylus and dynamic display adjustment

I really like to see patent applications surface that are for interesting technology that can make using my phone better. One of the issues with touch screens on some devices is that they are so small it’s hard to hit links with your fingers. Many want a stylus for the iPhone for this reason.

HTC has filed for a patent on a process for using a stylus on a capacitive touchscreen. The patent outlines a method of bringing resistive stylus accuracy to a capacitive touchscreen. The stylus in the HTC patent has a magnetic head that can be registered by a normal capacitive display.

That means that the user will be able to use the stylus or their finger as they want. A second HTC patent has outlined a new method of dynamically adjusting the brightness of the screen to prevent people from looking at the data on your screen. The system tracks the users face with cameras to adjust the content on screen.
