Back when the device was first launched on Rogers, the HTC Shift X9501 was released with the promise that it would be getting a software update “within three months” that provided for GPS. However, four months have now passed and it looks what was once promised is not to be.
In fact, Rogers is now stating they do not want to offer this GPS software update for HTC Shift users because after “rigorous testing of the application” the carrier determined “the customer experience did not meet its standards.” Â
I guess they’re really just looking out for the customers’ best interest. However, a rumor is circulating that Rogers didn’t sell enough of the HTC Shift X9501 and the carrier didn’t want to lose money on an update that not very many would utilize.
