HTC to use Android on 50% of smartphones it makes

I guess all those years of there not being many options when it comes to smartphone operating systems made Microsoft… soft. The company has been lacking on innovation and hasn’t had a really popular mobile OS in a while.

DigiTimes reports that HTC has plans to increase the use of Android on its smartphones up to 50% of the devices it sells. HTC has said in the past that it won’t abandon Windows Mobile, but the increasing of a new OS like Android to 50% of its products can’t sit well with Microsoft.

HTC will also reportedly be launching a new high profile 3G handset cased on the Qualcomm Brew Mobile Platform in September or October of this year. The handset is said to have HTC’s TouchFlo 3D tech and will be an entry-level model.
