Vincent has been spending some hands-on time with HTC’s Touch Diamond at its London premiere today, and we’ve got the live photos for you. In many respects the smartphone seems to live up to HTC’s hyperbole: the 640 x 480 VGA screen is amazingly crisp and the device overall feels more like a compact PMP than a clunky smartphone. Saying that, the plastic body is a missed opportunity compared to the iPhone and the XPERIA X1, and will the resistive (rather than capacitive) touchscreen lose the Touch Diamond points?

Vincent’s first-impressions? He’s describing it as the most advanced handset from HTC or any manufacturer, second only to the iPhone. Compared to the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1, he far prefers the Touch Diamond; it’s lighter and more pocket-friendly. Of course, the big battle will be when Apple unveils the next-gen 3G iPhone.
