We reported just the other day that the HTC Touch Opal would be the successor to the popular HTC Touch. However, now we’re learning the follow-up handset is to be called the HTC Touch Viva and while nice to look at, it’s pretty much the same inside.

Check out some of the Touch Viva’s rumored specs:
quad-band GSM / GPRS / EDGE connectivity (850, 900 ,1800 and 1900 MHz)
a Texas Instruments OMAP 850 CPU that runs at 200 MHz (not that great)
128MB RAM and 256MB ROM
a 2.8 inch TFT QVGA touchscreen
TouchFlo 3D UI (like HTC Touch Diamond)
Wi-Fi
Bluetooth 2.0
a 2 Megapixel camera
support for microSD cards
104 x 59 x 15.5 millimeters and 110 grams

We can also expect the new Touch Viva to run on Windows Mobile 6.1. It will first make its debut in Asia, though it will be released under the Dopod name brand. I feel like the rumor mill is churning extra hard this morning, but we’re even hearing the HTC Touch Viva might be released in Europe on September 30 for about $425.
