Nokia is moving to Maemo for some of its high-end smartphones and devices like the N900. Many users want feedback when they push buttons on touchscreen devices to make typing more accurate. Immersion announced today that it is bringing its TouchSense technology to Maemo developers.
The technology will allow developers to design touch feedback in the form of vibration in games, ring tones and other phone functions. Immersion is showing off a version of the game Bounce that has haptics at the Maemo Summit in Amsterdam this month.
The TouchSense player for Maemo is currently in beta and is scheduled for full production by the end of the year. Developers can download the TouchSense player from the Immersion developer site.
