Over at SlashGear we’ve been livecasting the Macworld 08 Keynote – and salivating ever so slightly at the new MacBook Air, even though it doesn’t have any kind of built-in cellular broadband – but the biggest mobile news from Apple is the 1.1.3 update for the iPhone has been officially released. Available now through iTunes, the firmware upgrade adds multiple-recipient capabilities to the iPhone’s SMS app, as well as an improved version of Google Maps that uses nearby WiFi to fashion assisted-GPS and locate you on the map.

Lyrics and subtitles for music and video, respectively, have also been added, with text showing up semi-transparent either over the Coverflow artwork or the footage itself. Plus, Apple have added in the ability to rearrange the Springboard buttons on the iPhone’s home screen, and in fact you can now organise up to nine different home screen pages to accommodate the new SDK. WebClips – a way to bookmark websites directly to the iPhone home screen – have also been included.
