If you are one of the masses of iPhone users looking forward to grabbing the new iPhone OS 3.0 software update set to hit this week you will may not have to wait that much longer. Exactly when the update will hit iTunes is up in the air a bit reports Engadget.

An announcement from India has the update hitting on the 17th, the day Apple promised. However, another announcement in Singapore has the update coming on the 18th. What gives? My money says that the difference is one of time zones and while the 17th is the date promised here in the U.S. that would be a different day in some other countries.
Not such a confusing thing if you think about it. One carrier in Hong Kong got specific with the release time for the 3.0 update and said it would be available on June 18 at 01:00 local time, which would boil down to 1pm on the 17th in New York, 6pm in London and 1900 in Europe.
