The iPhone Dev Team have released the Mac version of their Pwnage Tool, capable of unlocking Apple’s cellphone, flashing new custom firmware to it (whether that be a leaked version of Firmware 2.0 or a port of another OS entirely) and yet still letting the handset play nicely with Apple’s servers.
“The iPhone Devs have been working around the clock to bring you this tool – and by golly they’ve done it. Oh, and everything legal, Pwnage is 100% within the law” The iPhone Project
Engadget were invited to try out the Pwnage Tool, and handily had a video camera there to document one humble 8GB iPhone’s journey from AT&T pawn to its unlocked, Firmware 2.0-sporting T-Mobile reprieve.
“It’s not exactly a one-click process, but it’s not all that hard either” Nilay Patel, Engadget
We’d be interested to hear your experiences with the Pwnage Tool, so if you use it on your iPhone please let us know how you get on in the comments!

Excellent! I’ll be doing this to my iPhone asap!
= )
Why is the video no longer available? Anyway, this should be an excellent way to have the wonderful device of the iPhone made available to people like myself who would want the device, but don’t live in the US and are not content to be restricted to what is currently available from our carriers.
Long live the iPhone Dev Team!
