Apple reported best first quarter earnings with revenue of $9.6 billion (that’s billion with a BIG B). I don’t get a dime from the iPhone’s success other than the priceless looks on the face of all those so-called “analysts” who spoke ill of the iPhone. Apple sold over 2.3 million iPhone over the holiday season, yielding a grand total of 4 million sold so far. I doubt Apple will have problems reaching the goal of selling 10 million iPhone by end of 2008.
With all this money Steve Jobs is making for Apple, he has only taken $1 salary each year since returning to the company in 1997 (ahh, the year I graduated from college!). Unlike CFO Peter Oppenheimer who took in a $600,000 salary, and COO Timothy Cook receiving $700,000 – which doesn’t even include bonuses equaling their regular salary, adding up to $1.2 and $1.4 million, respectively. In quasi-related not so great news for Motorola, according to Business Report, the RAZR2 sales are at about half of the original RAZR during the same period. Former Oppenheimer analyst Lawrence Harris estimated that Motorola only sold 2 million RAZR2 during the holiday season versus Apple’s 2.3 million iPhone sales during the same period.
