Latest rumours put Windows 7 to be available by the end of 2009 and out on devices by Spring 2010. Images are already dancing about the Internets showing off the alleged user interface.

The User Interface is one part of software (or similar) development that not only changes a fair bit, it’s not always the first element completed. 10 years in IT development (noting as an Analyst, not a ‘developer’) getting the guts of an application built is key before you stick a face on it. Unless of course, you are making a pretty PowerPoint presentation. Nevertheless, there often is just as many people working on the front-end as the back, so to a certain degree the legitimacy of these images could be real. For example, if UI development was being done by a different team at the same time as code-based developed within Uncle Bill’s Microsoft.
My thoughts if anything, would be more that these images are of a prototype of the application or interface, not the final product. The layout and vibe of Windows Mobile 7, from the above is nothing like the honeycomb effect spotted for Windows Mobile 6.5. The interface for 6.5 itself seems to still be going through a few changes. So with Windows 7 being a year away, the UI seen above is nice, although I wouldn’t get too attached to it.

This just looks to cool!
I just hope Microsoft make WM7 work seamlessly out of the box (with the help of HTC ect) so I don’t have to keep finding custom ROMS.
