Last week, we reported that Verizon Wireless might be offering a contract-free option in the near future. And now that rumor has definitely been confirmed.

Verizon Wireless announced Monday that starting today, the carrier would be offering a contract-free option to its customers. Now, you don’t have to sign up for a contract for one or two years. Instead, you can be entirely contract-free and still enjoy the benefits of Verizon Wireless service.

You can pay the full retail price of any new cell phones on the service or bring over your current CDMA compatible handset. You can end the service at any time you’d like as well. This new month-to-month option can be used with any Verizon voice and data plans.
