Not able to get to the computer? Jaxtr have developed a mobile version of their VoIP service for just those customers.

The new Jaxtr-on-the-go service is designed simply for people who are not near a computer with Internet access. Alternatively, those that do not have Web access on their mobile phones. In short, users can dial a toll-free local access number from their mobile or landline phone and type in the number they want to call. From there they can either pay or a connection can be made after an SMS is sent to an alternative number with a local number to dial.

The service is an extension of their FreeConnect Service. For FreeConnect, you have to enter your phone number and the number of the person you want to call on the Jaxtr Web site to initiate the connection, and the other person has to have registered with Jaxtr. Mostly for major metropolitan areas, there are more than 150 toll-free numbers worldwide. As Bahman Koohestanti, chief executive of Jaxtr explains, the phone number that you both dialled can be used to reach each other thereafter.

It’s a well written article.Internet telephony refers to communications services—voice, facsimile, and/or voice-messaging applications—that are transported via the Internet, rather than the public switched telephone network.
